Festival season doesn’t need to be restricted to summer when you’re willing to jet-set a little: it can be all year round, especially when there’s so much choice. There are heaps of new festivals popping up all over the world, each offering something a little different. Sure, there are your household names – your Coachellas, your Rosklides, your Glastonburys – but there are also smaller, up-and-coming players on the scene, each bringing something new and exciting to the circuit and platforming talent across genres.

Once you’ve packed your bag and booked your ticket, don’t forget to pack Samsung’s new Galaxy Buds3 and Buds3 Pro for the journey. As well as offering studio-quality sound, they also have a built-in real-time Galaxy AI interpreter feature that translates other languages directly into your ear* – so not only does that mean there will be no more awkward reaching for the dictionary when out and about in a new country, you’ll also be able to get to know your favourite artists closer than before. And for the journey home after all the fun? Zone out with the Active Noise Cancellation, enjoy automatically-adjusted audio levels depending what you are listening to, and hear every bass, melody, even specific instruments in crystal clear quality with 24bit audio**.

So, where to? Here are five of the best new festivals to enter the scene, all setting a precedent for amazing things to come: from a trailblazing techno knees-up in Albania to a micro-festival stomper in the English countryside. It’s not too late to book your ticket to any of these, so call up the group chat and get exploring.

SUPERBLOOM

Munich, Germany. September 7-8

Line-up includes: Burna Boy, Kenya Grace, Calvin Harris, Chappell Roan

Now entering its third year, this bumper German weekender is a family-friendly affair taking over the city’s lakeside Olympic park. The programming is full of crowd-pleasers  – last year saw the likes of Raye, Martin Garrix and Jason Derulo take to the stage – but it’s also an exercise in making a site work to its absolute potential (it was designed to hold 50,000 punters, after all). And you can use Galaxy AI on Galaxy Buds3 and Buds3 Pro while exploring the site to listen out for any sets you should make sure to catch*. You’ll find a tonne of surprises outside the main stages – the MiniBloom area offers its own circus tents and trampoline, while District 4 has everything from a roller skating rink to a tattoo studio – so you’re definitely not going to get bored.

ION

Picture this: the late summer sun beating down, the Adriatic turquoise sea glimmering in the background and some of the best underground DJ talent around. ION festival, on the coast of Albania, is a summer holiday meets electronic music sesh with some of the most unique dance floors you’ll probably ever party on. DJ Stingray on the roof of a nineteenth-century stone built castle? Hessle Audio in a private beach enclave only accessible by boat? Don’t mind if we do.

Krankenhaus

Cumbria, England. August 23-25

Line-up includes: SEA POWER, Snapped Ankles, ĠENN

Micro-festivals are really having a moment in the UK at the moment. Krankenhaus, run and curated by Sea Power and with a capacity of only around 750, allows you to party with the dramatic backdrop of the West Lake District – offering alt-rock bands as well as film screenings, poetry recitals and book readings. It’s a reasonably civilised affair, too, with performances winding down early enough to ensure a decent night’s sleep – or almost guarantee it by wearing your Buds with Active Noise Cancellation as you drift off.

Rolling Land Thailand

Pattaya City, Thailand. November 22-24

Line-up includes: ASAP Rocky, Tyla, Playboi Carti

Following a successful debut in April 2023, this epic hip hop festival is returning to Thailand in November featuring some of the biggest names on the scene and top-quality production (we’re talking pyrotechnics, huge sound systems and fireworks to boot).
