Young Berliners, we’ve got some very, very exciting news. The German capital’s local government is now paying for you to go clubbing. That’s right: entry fees to some of the most prestigious venues in the world’s nightlife capital will cost absolutely nothing. Zilch. Nada.

A new ‘Jungendkulturkarte’ (youth culture card) has been launched for all Berlin residents between the ages of 18 and 23. Following the pandemic and the continued pressures faced by venues, it’s designed to get young people taking part in culture around the city.

And that doesn’t just include clubs. Young Berliners can also use the card to access museums, cinemas, theatres and even the opera. It comes pre-loaded with €50 (£44, $54) worth of credit and can be used up until April 30 2023.

When it comes to clubs, the Jungendkulturkarte can be used in the likes of Cassiopeia, SchuwZ and Prachtwerk. The card can only be used for admission – in other words, you can’t use any of its credit at the bar.

Excitingly, the card isn’t only available to German citizens. All Berlin residents – including those studying and working abroad – qualify. If that’s you, you’ll need to register for the card and pick it up by February 28.

To register and find out more about participating venues, see the official website here.
